Ritual & Lifestyle Mandalay Morning
1 Day Tour
It’s a Buddhist ritual like no other. Start your early morning tour around 4:15 am and drive to experience the face washing ceremony of Buddha , the most important pilgrimage site for local people. The ritual commences daily at 04:00-05:00 hours. The venerable monk who has done face washing every morning for more than a decade will do it again. He will be assisted by several lay helpers dressed in white and wearing formal headdresses. After that you will experience the typical life of Mandalay by sitting and watching and eating breakfast at Minthiha which is regarded as the best tea shop in Myanmar. You’ll find tea shops filled with men wearing “longyis”, laughing with friends while sipping endless cups of thick, sugary sweet Myanmar Tea. They are truly the heartbeat of Burmese culture, especially in larger cities like Mandalay. At Minthiha tea shop, just grab an open table and you’ll be quickly approached by one of the waiters. And there are several Myanmar, Indian style food items to choose from. Than proceed to a local fresh market, Walk through the trays of fresh veg and meats, flowers, fresh fruits and so on and check out the train which is old market train with no upper class. The train will crawl through the middle the market around 7:00 am and watch how 100s of vendors just push off the trays in time. For those who like to be on the train, the train ride is included for half an hour until the next stop. You will be picked up at the next stop and continue by car back to your hotel. Drop off time around 9:00.
